When we first purchased the old Anchor pub in early 2019, we knew we wanted to create something different for the village, but we were also aware of the building’s historical value. Being proud villagers ourselves, we wanted to develop a space we could be proud of. However, it was pretty clear that the venue needed to change.
After finally opening the restaurant two years later, we quickly gained a name for ourselves as a must-visit venue in Southend-on-Sea, serving up delicious drinks and cuisine.
We still consider The Waeccer a work in progress, but hopefully, with the support of our lovely community, we can make it a long-term success.

Located in Great Wakering, we’re just a 5-minute drive from the popular seaside resort of Southend-on-Sea and always welcome visitors from far and wide to enjoy our culinary delights.
Our kitchen is currently open from Wednesday to Saturday, serving the main menu, and on Sundays, when it’s our amazing roast dinners.
Every plate we serve up in our restaurant is made to order by our fantastic team of chefs. We only use the very best fresh, seasonal ingredients, including quality cuts of meat from Marsh’s Butchers, based just down the road, and handpicked fruit and vegetables sourced from local farmers.
Our diverse menu, curated by our knowledgeable chefs, showcases a range of culinary delights, with dishes crafted using the finest ingredients and prepared with passion and skill.
