Welcome to the Waeccer! When we bought the old Anchor pub back in early 2019 we knew we wanted to make something different for the village, but was also aware of the historical value the building had. Being proud villagers ourselves we really felt that we wanted to create something we could be proud of. But it was pretty clear that the venue needed to change.
Over the past few months we have been working really hard to create something special. Somewhere which is lovely to spend time in. A relaxing atmosphere with amazing quality drinks and food. After opening the restaurant on the 4th of July (after lockdown) we have quickly gained a great name for ourselves and are becoming known as one of the best places to eat in Southend.
We have put lots of thought into our gins, craft beer selection and wine list to ensure there is something available to suit every taste. It’s a work in progress and hopefully with the support of our lovely village we can make this a long term success!

THE GIN BAR
Let’s have a Gin? At #thewaeccer we like to do things differently. Come enjoy a Gin and Tonic from our dedicated Gin selection hand chosen and served how it should be. Our head bartender Wayne is the font of all knowledge when it comes to tipples of choice and we like to think our selection has something for everyone. If you are a Gin lover make sure you pop down and see what we’ve got.
We pride ourselves on serving a mix of classic cocktails and our own exciting creations. We experiment constantly to find new flavours/textures to tickle your taste buds and update our list regularly to reflect the seasons. All cocktails are made with the freshest ingredients and presented in the nicest way. We currently have a 2 for £12 offer, so make sure you get down to try them out…

“From the minute you walk in you can see it has an excellent style and class about it that has touch of modern London / New York City – due to the exposed brickwork look – but also retains that authentic village pub feel. “
“We have lived the in village for 16 years and have enjoyed the traditional village pubs, however Friday evening we visited The Waeccer and what a great place! The decor is trendy and clean and the atmosphere is welcoming. “
